In support of their seventh album Clancy, Twenty One Pilots launched their most expansive tour yet: a 96-date, four-continent arena tour. To best support “The Clancy World Tour,” all facets of production, particularly the audio system, needed to align with the artists’ cinematic vision. Cohesion provided support as the chosen PA for this ambitious global spectacle.
Twenty One Pilots emphasized “evoking an experience” that was “visceral and in-your-face,” according to FOH Engineer Kenny Sellars. The PA needed to provide the output and musicality fitting that desire, particularly in the front barricade area and lower-level, higher-value seating areas. Meanwhile, the same audio system needed to cover seamlessly corner-to-corner in each venue on the ambitious global tour.
Cohesion CO12 main and side hangs ably covered each seat with rich, full-coverage audio, while the flown and ground-stacked Cohesion CP218 II+ more than handled the low end needs of the spirited, genre-smashing sets from the artist. Significantly, the Cohesion CF28 fill speakers, which fit four to a single amplifier, provided robust output for the front sections. “It was surprising something so small could be so powerful,” said System Engineer and Audio Crew Chief Josh de Jong.
The consistency and reliability of the Cohesion PA allowed the team to rig and tune the PA expediently, saving valuable time day-to-day. The quality and intelligibility of Cohesion emphasized frontman Tyler Joseph’s vocals while richly reproducing the new arrangements of their beloved discography that Twenty One Pilots created for their spectacular worldwide tour.
“Consistency is important. To make it precise is the goal, and Cohesion is the most uniform PA we’ve ever taken out. There’s plenty of low end, and it’s even. The PA is fantastic."
